Our Work

The Dunwoody Woman's Club was a driving force behind the formation of the Dunwoody Stage Door Players, the Spruill Center for the Arts and the Dunwoody Nature Center.
  • The Stage Door Players has become a dominant member of the Atlanta theater community and conducts classed in theater for both children and adults.
  • The Spruill Center is the preeminent arts teaching facility in the Southeast, instructing more than 8,000 students per year.
  • The Nature Center has preserved pristine and historic acreage in the heart of Dunwoody, and is a teaching, as well as a recreational facility, serving over 10,000 in the community.

Our members initiated formation of the Spruill Center for the Arts Guild in mid-1980.

  • The Guild has made seizable contributions to the Arts Center in many ways including significant fund raising.
  • DWC members support all four of these groups on a continuing basis.
Establishing community libraries has been a major project of the Woman's Club since its beginning. We are proud to have played a major role in establishing:
      • The Dunwoody Library
      • Friends of the Dunwoody Library - a volunteer support group
      • Dunwoody High School Library
      • Vanderlyn Elementary Library
      • Our House (children's day shelter) Library
      • Dunwoody Nature Center Library

Educating children of all ages and circumstances continues to be a primary objective of Dunwoody Woman's Club. Included in annual support for both children and adult programs are:

      • Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Conference
      • "Second Wind" scholarships for adults.
      • The Link Counseling Center
      • Ronald McDonald House
      • Veteran's and Children's Hospitals
      • Head Start and numerous shelters for men, women and children.

In 1976 the first Dunwoody 4th of July Parade was sponsored by the Dunwoody Woman's Club. Growing into a popular community event recently boasting an attendance of 10,000, it is now sponsored by other civic-minded groups, but Club members continue to participate.
